First of all, we would like to welcome you to the new Fullarton Chiropractic Centre Blog! Here we will discuss all things chiropractic: massage, health, fitness and more. You can keep up to date with what is going on at the clinic and what topics we are discussing and exploring.
So for our first blog entry we’re going to answer a question we get asked a lot: What is Chiropractic?
Many people will have heard of what chiropractic is, some may have an idea or a perception of what it is, but maybe not fully understand it, and others may have no idea.
Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that focuses on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, with special emphasis on the spine. It primarily consists of manual therapy including spinal manipulation and other joint and soft-tissue manipulation. It also includes exercises and health and lifestyle counselling.
As chiropractors, we are trained to diagnose, treat, manage and prevent disorders of the musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, and muscles), as well as diagnose the effects these disorders can have on a person’s nervous system and how they can affect their general health.
We tend to find that the people who seek out chiropractic care are suffering from neck and back pain; most commonly the lower back. However, our work is not limited to the neck and back, we can assess and manage many different areas of the body as well as help assess and address your general health and well-being. We will take a closer look at these other aspects of chiropractic in future blogs.
Treatment and adjustments are specifically tailored to the needs of each patient. As well as manipulation of the spine, joints and soft tissues we use many different techniques in order to address pain in the affected area, improve the function of joints and muscles and increase mobility in order to achieve your health goals. Whether those goals may be adding quality to everyday life, feeling your best, or even training towards a big event we would love to discuss a plan to achieve them with you.
