The importance of designing your own toolkit to cope with lockdown.
Doing my job
I might be unable to help patients the way I, or they, are accustomed, but I can still help encourage people to move and fell well. The fact I’m still able to help our community despite all the changes has been a really positive experience. We have been able to offer free online consultations with myself (Chiropractor) and I have had some incredible results with these. I have been able to give specific advice and home exercises to do our best to ease discomfort and keep you all moving at this time.
Improving how I move with yoga classes and strength classes online. I am so proud that we are able to offer this with Donna’s weekly classes for our community. I have enjoyed my daily walks as well, especially when the sun is shining. Normally I would be too busy to go for an evening walk but now I look forward to it each day, a great rest from screen time and getting a breathe of fresh air.
I always found this difficult but with our heads buzzing with uncertainty, there has never been a better time to adopt a meditation practice. The Headspace app has been an invaluable part of my lockdown toolkit! I have found this so helpful for my sleep and my mindset right now. So much is going on and a moment of calm is greatly appreciated.
Like many of us, I was accustomed to operating on not nearly enough sleep. Sleepcasts has transformed my sleep pattern for the better and I now feel more well rested, and therefore better equipped to deal with life’s challenges than ever before. I have actually found I am waking naturally at 6.45am – which has never been the case for me ever before. I am grateful for the sunshine too, waking up with the natural light is great at this time of year.
Building our brand
A rebrand of the clinic has been in the plans for a long time. But a break from day to day work and more thinking time has allowed me to progress our rebrand to a point that it’s almost ready to reveal to our community. I’m excited to share it with you!
Learning and development
Having recently been assigned a mentor by the RBS Accelerator programme, I’ve been able to ask difficult questions and been challenged to look at the business with a helicopter view. This has helped me navigate our current situation and feel more in control of the future than I was before all this began. I’ve also been reading lots more (Bene Brown’s “Daring Greatly” is my current read and comes highly recommended!)
